"The Night Cafe" by Vincent Van Gogh

The Night Cafe was painted by Vincent Van Gogh in Arles during 1888 using oil paint on canvas. This picture depicts a bar that Vincent spent much of his time in before he cut off his earlobe and was a significant location in the movie because it is where Vincent went hoping to meet other artists, drown his sorrows, and ended up being kicked out for painting on people's faces and general misconduct. Shortly after being dragged out of the bar and back to his home, Vincent had a disagreement with Gauguin and cut off his own earlobe. He was rushed to a hospital and later had himself commited to a mental hospital for his own safety.
