The Dark-Haired Odalisque

I really liked the painting by Jesse Mockrin called The Dark-Haired Odalisque. It has dark colors, yet the woman's skin is fair. The flowers on the background are really detailed and contrast with the woman's silky skin. The fact that there is one white flower that sort of mimics the shape of her arm is interesting. The flowers are also placed near the women's head, making it look like her thoughts. Overall, this painting gives a serene feeling which I appreciate.
