Sunflowers is an oil on canvas painting by Vincent van Gogh in 1888. This painting was apart of two series in his still life paintings. The first one was when the flowers was lying on the ground. And this is the second one, the flowers in a vase. In this painting he painted the dying flowers with thick brushstrokes. Van Gogh's intention of this painting was to decorate his studio that he shared with his friend Paul Gauguin. He wanted to decorate the entire studio in nothing but flowers.
