The Adoration of the Shepherds by El Greco. (Spanish Renaissance)
Oil on canvas, 319X180cm
Museo del prado, Madrid
This painting was once at the tomb of Greco, then it was transported to a higher alter in which it was intended for. this painting is significant because it is one of Greco's brighter paintings. He uses the light shining/ radiating of the child to illuminate the other details throughout his work. most of Greco's paintings were dark as well. His First piece that was similar to this was a child blowing on an ember also having this unique illumination effect in his work. Greco's down fall was his inability to appropriately achieve balanced proportions. this piece was Greco's last piece and also known as his finest.
