Vincent van Gogh painted this in the summer of 1887. He made this in Paris and it is an Oil on Canvas. He painted more than 20 self portraits in two years trying to hone his skills. He used a mirror and said he wanted to be his own model. There were many scenes in the movie of him wearing a straw hat so I thought they were trying to show this painting through that.
