Claire Tabouret: le carnaval
This painting uses acrylic and textile canvas, it was painted just last year. I really like this painting because it feels like its from a past century. it has an old painting style touch to it. Its interesting how she painted the boys face, its not how children generally look at a carnival, its like he's in deep reflection. The boy in a painting is part of a series of pieces label Le carnaval, the carnival. Most are paintings of children in this sort of somber, reflective state. I think the children are suppose to be workers in the carnival, maybe treated poorly and living in poor conditions. She uses darker colors with a contrast of bright green, mainly around his face area. It's not a high contrast painting, its more subtle than that.
